The Regina Experimental Biarritz, a 5-Stars Spa Hotel

A grandiose edifice overlooking the sea in Biarritz

Boasting a monumental 15-metre-high atrium, huge bay windows overlooking the sea, an Eiffel glass roof and a space awash with Art Deco details, Regina Experimental is an emblematic example of Belle Epoque architecture on the Basque coast. Its decor has been completely reimagined by designer Dorothée Meilichzon, revisiting the luxury of seaside living in Biarritz. Several small lounges sit beneath the large glass roof in a brightly lit space punctuated by dark greens and reds, blues and sandstone, ceramics and natural tones. Reinventing the score of a 1920s cocktail piano bar, sofas play on the shapes of the Itsasoan footbridge in Guéthary, creating numerous intimate spaces with hanging paper lamps by Ingo Maurer and Anthony Dickens.

AN EMBLEMATIC HOTEL

A masterpiece of the Belle Epoque perched on the cliffs of Biarritz. Originally erected in 1906 with architect Henry Martinet at the helm, the hotel was requisitioned by German troops, only to be restored in the 1950s. Some seventy years later, Experimental became the guardians of Regina’s history, a tale that continues as a 5-star hotel.

A place called Biarritz

A mix of genres, Biarritz seems to belong to the Belle Epoque world of palaces and sumptuous parties, but also to the bohemian world of surfing, the legendary world of golf and finally to the world of gastronomy in a Basque country bursting with flavour.

The beauty of seaside living on the Basque Coast

A life lived on the sea, with sweeping views of the Atlantic. Quietly perched at the top of the Avenue de l'Impératrice, between the Biarritz lighthouse and the Golf course, the Regina Experimental hotel is uniquely sheltered from the hustle of summer life, yet just a stone's throw from the heart of Biarritz. Located in southwestern France, at the gateway to the Spanish border, Biarritz is at the crossroads of three key destinations: Bordeaux, Bilbao and San Sebastian. On our doorstep, discover icons of the Basque country. The imposing Biarritz lighthouse, a towering 73m high and the Golf du Phare, one of Europe’s most recognised golf courses. Further beyond, Rocher de la Vierge and the Port Vieux, accessible by Gustav Eiffel’s legendary footbridge. A fisherman’s town unfolds, complete with seaside restaurants waiting to be discovered.
